Robert Glenn Jones

Robert Glenn Jones, 86, of Hahira died on December 23, 2015, at the Langdale Hospice House. Mr. Jones was born in Hahira on August 21, 1929 to the late Elisha Burnett Jones Sr. and Eva McLeod Jones. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carol (J.B.) Johnson, E.B. (Doris) Jones Jr., Eva May (Spencer) Bentley and Willie Pearl (E.J.) Futch and his nephew, Bernie Futch and niece, Cheryl Chandler. Mr. Jones attended Hahira High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He farmed the family land and is also a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Jones was a nationally known plot hound hunter and had his own line of Plott hounds called the Dixie Plott. Mr. Jones was also an Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge volunteer and certified guide.

Survivors include his sister Helen Zachary of Mobile, Alabama, sister-in-law Joyce Jones of Quitman, Georgia, nephews: Richard (Sandra) Futch of Hahira, Daryl (Lori) Johnson of Columbus, Randy (JoAnne) Jones of Hahira, nieces: Deidre (Bill) Russell of Hahira, Andrea Johnson of Los Angeles, California, Michelle Stieve of Nahunta, Denise (Bob) Huett of Mobile, Alabama, June (Bill) Hagin of Buena Vista, Terri (Dan) Stevens of Valdosta, Karen Matuszczak of Valdosta, and Candy (Tim Connor) Bentley of Brunswick and several great (and great-great) nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, December 28, 2015 in the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Evangelist Evans McMullen and Mr. Steiner Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
