Robert G. Becton

Robert G. Becton, 80, of Quitman, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Quitman on September 23, 1927 to A.M. and Mary Ann (Mae) Becton. Mr. Becton was associated with the Lowndes County government for several years. He was also a farmer and syrup maker. He loved fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Becton was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Becton of Quitman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Ronnie Lieupo of Homerville, Connie and Lee Carpenter of Gainesville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Janet Alligood of Adel, Roger and Teresa Becton of Valdosta and Randy Becton of Quitman; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jack Smith of Valdosta, Laura Barwick of Live Oak, FL.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Redland Cemetery with the Reverend Jim Schappaugh officiating.
