Robert Charles Keeling, 66, of Quitman died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. Charles worked for Jimmy Davis, Inc. starting from the age of 14 for 27 years. He then continued his next 26 years as a self-employed entrepreneur in appliance maintenance and repair. His greatest accomplishment and happiness came with his 37 year marriage to Darlene M. Keeling, raising two wonderful sons and being blessed with seven amazing grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene, who was both his soulmate and his partner during his long work career; his son, Sergeant Major Kenneth I. Keeling of the U. S. Army having three children, William Cooper Keeling, Robert Logan Keeling and Alana Hope Keeling of Hanover, Pennsylvania; his son, Brian W. Williams who works for Sanderson Farms, along with his fiance' Carrie Brannon who produced three children, Shelby N. Williams, Dayton W. Williams and Jacob Andrew Williams of Adel, GA; one grandchild, Elle M. Walker and husband, Nick Walker of Adel; brother and sisters-in-law, Richard and Edna Keeling of Lake Park, Margie Keeling of Pinetta, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty (Joyce) and Hub Cashwell of Quitman, Louvenia Hendricks of Pinetta, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruby Edwards, Joyce Dixon, Jenny Dixon, Marvin and Angela Dixon, Harriet Sutton, Linda and Mike Gilliam, Randolph Parker and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Irving Hunter and Ruby Louvenia Keeling; his brothers and sister-in-law, Bernard Keeling of Pinetta, FL, Bobby and Betty Keeling of Valdosta, sister and brothers-in-law, Mamie (Louise) and Buck Finney of Pinetta, FL and Joe Hendricks of Pinetta, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Edwards, Leroy and Marie Dixon, Harvey and Luella Dixon, Thomas Dixon, Woodrow Dixon, Kenneth Sutton, Frances Parker.
Charles enjoyed fishing and the problem solving of repairing appliances. However, being with Darlene to spend time and play with their grandchildren brought him the most happiness during his 66 years of life.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Harris officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
