Robert C. (Bob) Hall, 97, of Lake Park, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 1, 1917 in Lothair, Kentucky to the late Raleigh and Abigail Brown Hall. Mr. Hall served with the 140th Army Air Force Base Unit, U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and served in the Central Pacific, Gaudalcanal, New Guinea, Northern Solomons, and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 7 Bronze Stars, the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He retired from Owens-Illinois after 31 years and was the Lead Man in the electrical department. He was a charter member of the Lake Park First Baptist Church and held many positions in the church ranging from serving as a deacon for many years, teaching the senior adult Sunday school class, and many other functions and duties involving the life of the church. Apart from his love and service to his country and church, he devoted his time and efforts to other causes in his community. He served as Scout Master for the Lake Park Boys Scouts Troop #409, was a member of the American Legion Post #13 and also a member of the Brotherhood of Electricians. He was a loving, faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was indeed a shining example of what the greatest generation was all about.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Vanessa Hall of Lake Park; a son and daughter-in-law, William Robert and Phyllis Hall of Hahira; grandchildren, Forrest Holder, Jesse Holder, Michael Hall, and Jennifer Fairbanks; great-grandsons, Levi Fairbanks and Garrett Fairbanks; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Holder and a grandson, Jason Hall.
Services for Bob Hall are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Lake Park with Pastor Robert Dawson officiating. The interment will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
