Robert (Bob) L. Buchheit, 73, of Valdosta died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 after a sudden illness. He was born in Huntington, Indiana and had lived in Valdosta since 1973. Bob was retired from the United State Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was also retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Buchheit was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Jay Smith of Thomasville, Angela and Neal Culbreth of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Trey and Shannon Smith of Macon, Nick Smith of Thomasville, Miranda and Shelby Culbreth of Valdosta; two great grandchildren, Cale and Sydney Smith of Macon; a sister, Ann Noble of Elwood, Indiana; a brother, David Buchheit of Summerfield, Florida, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, and a number of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary Buchheit, mother and father-in-law, Murel and Madge Seely, three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Reverend Chris Michaels will officiate. Entombment rites will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 -8 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
