Robert Allen Catoe, Sr., 88, of Valdosta passed away, Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA. He was born on December 1, 1921 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late James Normant and Pearl Joyce Owen Catoe and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Catoe was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a service manager in the automotive industry for many years and was retired from the Vehicle Maintenance Department with the City of Valdosta. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and South Pacific Campaign. Mr. Catoe enjoyed camping with his family in the Smoky Mountains and is fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joyce Donaldson Catoe of Valdosta, his daughters and son in law, Joy and Keith Wiggins of Rye, Colorado and Bobbi Watson of Valdosta, his sons and daughters in law, Robert Allen, Jr. and Ginny Catoe of Valdosta and David and Misti Catoe of Chattanooga, Tennessee, grandchildren, Katherine (Chip) Coughlin of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Christopher (Joelle) Wiggins of Pueblo, Colorado, Bonnie (Bruce) Damm of Albuquerque, N.M., Kelley Fisher of Valdosta, Al (Melina) Catoe of Roswell, GA., Robby (Angel) Catoe of Valdosta, Andy Catoe of Valdosta, Crystal Catoe of Cumming, GA., Brent (Melanie) Catoe of Nashville, TN., Andrew Catoe of Athens, GA, great grandchildren, Rosee Coughlin, Sophie Wiggins, Robert Damm, Ryan Damm, Savannah Read, Tristan Read, Ansley Catoe and Ben Catoe. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Catoe and Haskell Cato, a son in law, Jerry Watson and a great grandson, Colby Alexander Read.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Moon officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
