Robert Alan Mitchell, 42, of Valdosta, died suddenly on Friday, September 27, 2019. Born in Jacksonville, FL, Alan and his family moved to Valdosta where he grew up. He attended Lowndes High School in the mid 1990’s before he started working. Over the years he has worked for several employers to include Aaron Rents, Alert Corporation, himself and most recently as a millwright at CCIC LLC. Alan was a very caring and giving person who was also able to fix anything, and would do so, even before you asked, if he knew you had a need. He loved being outside fishing, hunting and working on cars and projects. When he was younger, he attended the Church of Christ in Dasher.
Survivors include his mother Kim Mitchell Starling and her husband Steve, of Valdosta; his father, Terrell Lloyd of New Braunfeld, TX; the mother of his son, Erika Shipp, of Moultrie; two sisters, Miranda Mitchell of Valdosta and Danielle Erdmier of Waycross; his grandparents, Raymond & Denise Lloyd; a half-brother, Marko Lloyd. Also surviving are two uncles and an aunt, Andrew J. Mitchell, Jr. of Valdosta; Anthony & Lesa Mitchell of Jacksonville; several cousins, which include Kevin Tison of Valdosta; many special friends which include Julie & Greg, Ryan & Gina, and Richard & Granger and his special companion, ‘Cujo’. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jewell Mitchell, Andrew Jackson Mitchell, Sr., Ruth & Elwood Starling and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
A graveside service for Alan will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Copeland Cemetery.
