Robbie Nell Cowart Dumas, 87, of Hahira, died Monday, February 10, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Adel on November 24, 1932, to the late John Asa and Mattie Lee Henderson Ray and grew up in Adel. She lived most of her life in Hahira. Mrs. Dumas was a member of Pineview Baptist Church. She and her husband, the late Rhudolph (R.C.) Cowart owned and operated Ace Hardware in Hahira and Adel for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Cowart Lindsey of Adel; two sons and a daughter in law, R. Charles, Jr. and Peggie Cowart of Lakeland, Kenneth Jackson Cowart and Melanie Powell Johnson of Fitzgerald; her grandchildren, Jim Simpson, Lori Nichole Simpson, Robin Houston Powell, Harley Cole Houston, Dusty Cowart, Brandon Cowart, Megan Carver, Keeley Cowart Walden and Zack Walden, Hunter Cowart, Jason and Alanna Cowart, Keri Cowart Reese and Brian Reese, Kristen Cowart Nathan Johnson, and Jackson Johnson; her great grandchildren, Brandon Maye, Mikayla Simpson, Tristan Simpson, Morgan Powell, Max Powell, Matthew Powell, Dusty Cowart, Willow Cowart, Branson Cowart, Preston Walden, Blakely Walden, Kayson Cowart, Allie Anna Cowart, Aubrey Cowart, Taylor Reese, Turner Reese, Anzleigh Reese, Cole Cowart; her brother an sister in law, Paul J. and Chris Ray of Adel; her sister, Merle Ray McGlocklin of Athens, AL; her sisters in law, Gwen (Steve) Couch of Hahira, Barbara Ray of Adel; her brother in law, Ronald (JoBeth) Cowart of Hahira; nieces and nephews that she raised as her own, Raymond Rencarge, Kevin Rencarge, Diane Rencarge Dunn, Tommy Rencarge and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rhudolph Charles Cowart, Sr., and Kirby Evan Dumas; a daughter, Janice Loretta Cowart Renfroe; grandchildren, Taylor Heath Cowart and Jonathon Keith Schofill; two sisters and brothers in law, Mattie Pearl Ray Williams and Richard Williams, Ada Mae Ray Horne and Louie Horne; a sister in law, Treva Dumas; her brothers, Willie Ray, Leroy Ray, Jack (Wynelle) Ray, John Ray; a nephew, David Rencarge.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020, in the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Reverend Terry Sellars will officiate. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
