Richard R.T. Thomas Lineberger

February 23, 1914 — May 5, 2005

Richard Thomas (R.T.) Lineberger, 91, lifelong resident of Valdosta, passed away on May 5, 2005 at his home. Born in Lowndes County on February 23, 1914, the son of the late, Eddie Joshua and Lena Chason Lineberger, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of Airport Church of Christ and was a retired self employed carpenter. Mr. Lineberger received much joy from growing and selling Christmas trees and making and selling his wood working crafts.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Ubie Beck Lineberger; two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Mackey Allen of Mineral Wells, Texas, Carol and Chris Prine of Valdosta; grandchildren, Geri Burgess of Locust Grove, Georgia, Christy and Herb Hamilton of Valdosta, a great grandchild, Sammye Caroline Hamilton; sister, Pearl Collins of Valdosta; three sisters in law and two brothers in law, Daisy Copeland of Valdosta, Lucy and Hilton Allen of Valdosta, June and Thomas Simpson of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Keith Olbricht of Airport Church of Christ and John Klimko of Central Church of Christ will conduct the service. Burial will follow at the Dasher Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Raintree Village Children’s Home, 3757 Johnston Rd., Valdosta, GA. 31601.
