Richard Melvin Roberson, 90, of Clyattville, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at his home. Born in Dixie on August 28, 1924, he was a son of the late Adrian NeSmith and Oliver J. Roberson, Sr. Mr. Roberson was a WWII veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from the Lowndes County Recycling Center and was the night shift manager of a service station on I75 @ Exit 18 for over thirty years. He was an avid fan of the Valdosta Wildcats, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He was a Presbyterian.
Preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tonya Lynn Roberson, brothers and sisters in law, Edgar O. and Ruth Roberson, Oliver J. Jr., and Louise Waller Roberson; sister, Martha Edna Morrow, brother in law, Floyd W. ( Andy) Anderson, Mr. Roberson is survived by his sons and daughter in law, Keith and Diane Hurst Roberson of Clyattville, Danny Roberson of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Danielle, Ian Ray, Dean and Maggie Roberson, Jason Redding, Chris Smith, Steven Smith; seven great grandchildren; sister, Betty Roberson Anderson of Valdosta, brothers and sisters in law, Pete and Wilma Roberson, Donald and Lawanna Roberson, Clyde and Jeanette Roberson, Fred and Donna Roberson, Cecil and Susan Roberson all of Valdosta; sister in law, Mary Sue Roberson of Orlando, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2015, at two p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Elbert Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
