Richard Melville Zaun

Richard Melville Zaun, 58, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Richard was born in Miami, Florida on March 30, 1953, the son of the late Richard A. Zaun and Lois Jean Washburn Zaun. He was a 1971 graduate of Valdosta High School. He attended Pensacola Christian College from 1974 – 1977 and received his Associate Degree in HVAC from Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina. He was self-employed and owned his own business, Inheritance Lawn Service. A member of Morningside Baptist Church, Richard was a good man and a hard worker. He was genuinely loved by his children, family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Cherith Renee Hediger, son-in-law, Aaron B. Hediger, and granddaughter, Morgan Kellye Hediger of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Zaun and Carissa Joy Zaun of Valdosta; sister, Kathy Zaun of McDonough, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Terri Shelton of Cocoa, Florida; sisters, Joann Zaun and Lora Lee Zaun Smith of Chicago, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, John and Audra Zaun of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother, Charles Joseph Zaun of Valdosta; sister-in-law Glynda Zaun of Valdosta; and the mother of his children, Rachel Zaun Parker. He also has many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Charles Zaun.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. Pastor Wayne Robertson will officiate.
