Richard Lamar Barnwell

Richard Lamar Barnwell, 67, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 2, 1943 to the late H. C. and Mary Lou Chandler Barnwell and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Barnwell was a member of the Bemiss Road Baptist Church and retired from Roadway Express.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Richard Lowell and Allisha Barnwell of Valdosta, Tonya Kay and Wesley Parks of Quitman, Michael A. and Lori Barnwell of Atlanta, five grandchildren, Brittany Parks, Justin Barnwell, Amber Barnwell, Toviah Barnwell and Ilana Barnwell, two brothers, J. C. Barnwell of North Carolina and Roland Barnwell of Birmingham, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Green Barnwell.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Friday, January 21, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1pm CST, Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Liberty Minter Cemetery in Morris, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
