Richard "Junior" Wilson, 73, of Valdosta died on Friday, August 6, 2010 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 28, 1936 in Strunk, Kentucky to the late Richard and Rachel Strunk Wilson and has been a resident of this area for 40 years. He was the owner/operator of Wilson Wrecking and was a member of Faith Assembly of God. He was a foster parent for many children over twenty years and loved them all from the bottom of his heart.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janie Wilson of Valdosta; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rob Fahey of Bright, Indiana, Pam and Rick Noel of Stearns, Kentucky and Elizabeth and Michael Barnett of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamie King of Stearns, Kentucky; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Diane Dishman of Rockford, Illinois, special nieces, Brenda Glacken and Phyllis Turner; a special nephew, James Tankersley and great-nephew, Seth Tankersley; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Tankersley all of Cincinnati, Ohio; other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Jeffery Wilson.
Services for Junior Wilson will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Faith Assembly of God with Pastor Jerry Russo officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at the church. The burial will take place in the Bridgetown Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio on Thursday, August 12, 2010.
