Richard Forrester Dollar, Jr.

September 20, 1954 — November 14, 2014

Ricky Dollar, known and loved by so many for his friendly, "See you tomorrow," at the local Wendy's restaurants joined his mother (Christine), father (Richard), sister (Elizabeth), and claimed brother, Larry Dollar, in Heaven Friday, November 14, at approximately 2:29 PM. He will remembered by his friends, family, and biker family for his years of passionate dedication to living life wide open, enjoying each moment to, as he would say, "hang loose" with "no worries."
Ricky is survived by his loving wife (Martha), son (Wes), daughter-in-law (Emily), and granddaughter (Allison). Their tight-knit family also included niece and nephew, Ammy and Jaime Gibbons, who Ricky accepted as his own daughter and son. Ammy and Jaime's family includes two sons (Mikey & Ethan) and one daughter (Mia). He is also survived by two sisters, Linda and Peggy, their husbands, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ricky spent much of his family time preparing meals that were truly world class and daiquiris that were one of a kind. He was happiest making sure everyone was well fed and had a great drink in hand to wash it down with.
Born in Valdosta on September 20, 1954, Ricky's work family included hundreds, and he touched each person's life in some special way that only he could. Among his many honors during his 38 years operating the local Wendy's franchise, he was a proud recipient of the prestigious Wendy's Mop Bucket Award, given to those who exemplify Wendy's special culture and demonstrate Dave Thomas' legacy values every day and given to Ricky for his additional dedication to fellow employees, customers, and the community. His Bemiss Road store was recognized with the highest honor of "Best Wendy's in the World." Ricky dedicated his life to ensuring that each customer's experience at his restaurants was a perfect one. He was truly a one-of-a-kind operator and will be missed by his coworkers and patrons alike.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly Church of God (2423 US HWY 41 S) on Thursday, November 20th, at 2 PM with Reverend Gerry Russo officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The new Wendy's at 5 Points will be dedicated to him on Tuesday, November 18th, at 10 AM. A memorial motorcycle ride will be held in Ricky's honor; the Southern Cruisers Riding Club Chapter 274 will announce the details of that ride. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in Ricky's name. He supported the Foundation in many ways over the years by organizing golf tournaments, 5K runs, and poker runs, just to name a few.
He will be missed by so many that loved him in so many ways. There is no way to count the lives on which he had such a huge impact. He leaves behind shoes that will be impossible to fill. We will all tell stories of his life and joy for many, many years to come.
Condolences may be made online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the family.
