Richard Earl Lamon

Richard Earl Lamon, 55, of Valdosta died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 23, 1954 in Valdosta and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Lamon was a graduate of Lowndes High School and the University of Georgia. He was currently serving as City Executive for BB&T Bank and a member of the Northside Baptist Church. Richard loved his family and grandson, golf, baseball and singing for his own enjoyment. He loved reading, the beach, traveling and knew the most useless trivia. He had served on the Board for the Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club and the United Way.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lewis Lamon of Valdosta, his daughter and son in law, Shannon Lamon Ross and Wes Ross of Columbia, SC., his son, Kurt Thomas Lamon of Valdosta, his grandson, James Richardson (Jay) Ross of Columbia, SC., his mother and her husband, Amelia Lamon Curry and Flagler Curry of Palatka, Fla., three sisters and brothers in law, Charlene Lamon Brooks and Ray Brooks of Palatka, Fla., Regina Lamon Tyner and Alan Tyner of Niceville, Fla., Gail Lamon Shaw and Cleveland Shaw of Valdosta, brother and sister in law, Thomas and Joy Lamon of Ocala, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Earl Lamon.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
