Richard E. Mccallman

Richard E. McCallman, 86, of Valdosta passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2103 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on May 4, 1927 in Lake City, Florida to the late Archibald and Pearl Smith McCallman. Mr. McCallman gave his life to Christ at the age of 12 and spoke of his Christian life to others. Faith was his cornerstone and he led his life by the precepts of the Bible. Mr. McCallman served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of WWII. He worked in the airline industry in Jacksonville and Miami for 60 years, serving as a mechanic, a Quality Control Manager and Director, and FAA liaison with National Airlines, Pan Am Airlines, and Aero Air. Mr. McCallman, along with his wife, moved to Valdosta from Hialeah, Florida in 2008 to be nearer their daughter and son-in-law. He was a member and served as a deacon with the First Baptist Church of Hialeah and was currently attending Open Bible Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, and a proud and loving father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary McCallman of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Bob Partridge of Valdosta and Janice and Mark Dewey of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two grandsons, Brad Dewey and his wife Sarah of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Luke Partridge of Orlando, Florida; his sister, Kate Randall of Orange Park, Florida.

Services for Richard E. McCallman are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Carrol Joye and Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
