Allen Black, 58, died suddenly on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta to Richard Vernon Black and the late Wynell Black, Mr. Black had been a lifelong resident of this area and was a member and deacon at Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. He was also a veteran of the Navy, and currently a Vice President of Ace Electric, where he had worked for the past 14 years. His family who considered him The Most Wonderful Husband, The Best Dad, a Wonderful Papa, and a Wonderful Son, will dearly miss him.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Black, of Lake Park; a son and daughter in law, Derrick & Helen Black of Lake Park, a daughter and son in law, Shana & Jamie Thomas of Gainesville, FL; a grandson and his “Best Buddy” Hunter Black of Lake Park; his father, Richard Black of Valdosta; two brothers and sisters in law, Ernest & Jeweldine Black of Valdosta, and Bobby & Shirley Black of Walterboro, SC. Also surviving is his mother in law, Marie Mimbs, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three sisters in law, Stephanie Vincent of Boca Raton, FL, Dawn Mimbs, of Las Vegas, NV and Jan Mimbs of Pompano Beach, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Wynell Black.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Central Church of Christ. Mr. Jere Via will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005.
