Richard Addison (Dick) Flynt, Sr., 89, of Hahira died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on February 3, 1928 to the late Worth Addison and Pauline Lambe Flynt and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mr. Flynt was an Insurance Agent with Farm Bureau and a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church where he served in many leadership roles including Chairman of the Deacons. He was a strong devoted Christian and committed family man. Mr. Flynt was a cattle rancher and enjoyed the rural lifestyle. He had lived on the same farm for fifty seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Elese T. Flynt of Hahira; his two daughters and sons in law, Janet Flynt Powers and Roger Powers of Gainesville, GA, Sandra Flynt McKinney and Lonnie McKinney of Cordele, GA; his son and daughter in law, Richard Addison (Rick) Flynt and Sherry Flynt of Johns Creek, GA; his stepchildren, Sandi and Harry Skoropat of Valdosta and Phillip Faircloth of Hahira; his grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Powers, Lyle McKinney, Stuart McKinney, Zack (Ashley) McKinney, Kristyn (Zack) Brunson, Lynsay Flynt, Makenzie Flynt, Heather Williams, Jennifer McCranie; four step grandchildren; 9-great grandchildren, 9- step great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother in law, Dorothy Bishop of Cochran, GA, Sally and Randall Watson of Greensboro, GA; brothers in law and sisters in law; Ronald and Jo Beth Cowart, Gwen and Steve Couch, Robbie Nell Cowart Dumas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Cowart Flynt, a daughter, Paula Jewel Flynt Jasso, a sister, Antoinette Lawson and a brother, David Flynt.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Hahira First Baptist Church with Mr. Brant Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3-4pm at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hahira First Baptist Church.
