Reverend John A. Hillis

Reverend John A. Hillis, 74 of Lake Park, died on June 29, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born on September 27, 1931 in Statenville, he was the son of the late Lloyd Elliott, Sr. and Josephine Landing Hillis. He was a member of the Lake Park Church of God. He was in the ministry for over 40 years serving churches in Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, Alabama and Florida as well as being involved with the Church of God World Ministries. He was also a substitute teacher for Lowndes High School.

Survivors are his wife, Edna Hillis of Lake Park; son and daughter-in-law, John and Ricki Hillis of Lake Park; grandchildren, Aerial Hillis and Ashley Hillis of Lake Park; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Jane Hillis of Lake Park, Earl and Juanita Hillis of Royston, GA, Lloyd and Eleanor Hillis of Mt. Dora, FL, Joseph and Bernadine Hillis of Baxley, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Grace and Blease Droze of Summerville, SC, Barbara Plott of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Rev. Clifton Elmore of Albany, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Marchese and five sisters.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006 at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Sandlin officiating.
