Rev. Douglas M. Reddick

Rev. Douglas M. Reddick, 90, of Valdosta died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on May 12, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Martin Floyd and Frances Waldon Reddick and lived in Valdosta since 1955.
Rev. Reddick moved to Valdosta in 1955 where he served as pastor of the Northside Baptist Church until 1992. He was the second pastor to serve at Northside and was considered to be the pioneer pastor who led the church through many expansion efforts. Rev. Reddick also authored a 150 page book commemorating the church's history entitled, "A Half Century of God's Grace and Glory". Rev. Reddick led many mission efforts worldwide during his ministry. After his retirement, he served as interim pastor for several churches in the South Georgia/North Florida area.
Rev. Reddick graduated from Michigan State University and received a Master's Degree from Bob Jones University in South Carolina. He also studied at Southwest Theological Seminary in New Orleans.
He served as a chaplain's assistant in the United States Army Air Corp from 1945-1947. Rev. Reddick was an accomplished amateur photographer and enjoyed woodworking. He was a licensed aircraft pilot and had been the owner of three airplanes.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rena Woods Reddick of Valdosta; his son and daughter in law, Paul Douglas and Sherri L. Reddick of Savannah, GA; his daughter and son in law, Elisabeth and Kevin Fitzgerald of Fairfield, OH; four grandchildren, Erin Michelle Reddick Kirby and Robert Kirby of New York, NY, Ian Paul Reddick of Boston, MA, Benjamin Kevin Fitzgerald of Fairfield, OH, Andrew Scott Fitzgerald of Cincinnati, OH; two great grandchildren, Brennan Isaiah Baynes, Brooklynn Grace Fitzgerald both of Fairfield, OH; his sister and brother in law, Barbara and Glenn Stevenson of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Floyd Reddick.
Visitation for Rev. Reddick will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 10:30am-12:00pm at the Northside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30pm at the Northside Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Our Legacy Fund at Northside Baptist Church, the Mayo Clinic or to the Langdale Hospice House.
