Rebecca Eugenia Caldwell Odom, 96, of Valdosta died on Saturday, November 09, 2013 at her residence. She was born on July 26, 1917 in Metcalf, Georgia to the late Eugene Forrest and Martha Kerr Caldwell. She was raised in Thomasville and graduated from Thomasville High School. Mrs. Odom has been a resident of Valdosta since 1945 where she and her late husband, Everett Daniel Odom, Sr., dedicated their lives to raising their children and teaching them to be well behaved and well educated. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Valdosta. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was loved in return and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Everett Daniel Odom, Jr. of Valdosta, Eugene and Linda Odom of Glennville, Georgia, Tom Odom and Susan Hendricks of West Palm Beach, Florida; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca Anne Odom of Valdosta and Danice and Rick Tyson of Mexico Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Caldwell Abercrombie of Valdosta and a brother, John Richard Caldwell of California; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Caldwell Mangum and Jean Caldwell Baker.
