Reba Hurst Smith

Reba Hurst Smith, age 90, of Valdosta, passed away on July 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 1, 2016, at Thomaston Church of God. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the church on Monday and the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time. Bishop Danny L. Henderson and Bishop Dewain Joiner will officiate. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery in Thomaston.
Mrs. Smith served in the ministry along with her husband for 53 years. A woman of many talents, she was a homemaker, a floral designer and a speaker. She served as a member of the Church of God Georgia Women Ministries Board, President of their Church's Women's Board and church secretary at Doraville Church of God.
Preceded in death by her parents, Toomer and Essie Arnold Hurst, husband, Reverend L.E. Smith, son, Evard Delanous Smith and daughter, Renee Smith Matthews, brother, Dr. Vernon J. Hurst. She is survived by daughter, Rebecca Smith (John) Wetherington of Dover, North Carolina, Lawanna Smith (Richard) Swails of Valdosta, sister in law, Neil Wells Hurst, of Kennesaw, grandchildren, Bern Alan Griffin, Jada Griffin (Johnny) McCollum, Evard Delanous Smith, II, Marc Arnold Childs, William Austin (Sarah) Matthews, Jon Alex Matthews; great granddaughter, Jordan Griffin.
