Raymond John Vanek, Jr., born on October 19, 1962, in San Diego, California, passed away on July 1, 2024, in Valdosta, Georgia. He was the beloved son of Raymond John Vanek, Sr. and Carolyn A. Prunier. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, Frank L. Vanek.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Ronda Vanek, their children Willow Gaia (Amina) and Stacy Lyn Hunt, his grandchildren Brandon Hunt (Zakiya) and Hailee Kay Hunt, his siblings Deb Vanek (Barbi) and Patricia Stimson (Dwight), as well as his bonus dad, Paul Prunier, and his faithful service dog, Murphy James, In addition, several nieces and nephews that he adored. Ray treasured a special friendship with Valdosta Fire Department (Retired) Lieutenant David Rowe. 

Raymond and Ronda were united in marriage on November 12, 2004; their love for each other was undeniable. Raymond served in the Air Force and continued his dedication to serving others through his employment at the Valdosta Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Sergeant and as the Bridgewater Corners Vermont Fire Chief before moving to Valdosta. 

Ray's community involvement showcased his passion for helping others. He loved his career as a firefighter and was known for his unwavering commitment to his community. Raymond's interests included cherishing his fur babies, especially his loyal service dog, Murphy, and his love for travel and exploring the world. He held his family and loved ones close to his heart and valued every moment spent with them.

Raymond was known for his simplicity, his culinary skills, and his love for cooking. He made the best BBQ sauce, frozen margaritas, and grilled ribs, showing his love and care through his delicious creations. He treated Ronda like a queen, showering her with flowers and affection, always calling her his queen. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying his backyard pool. 

A funeral service to honor Raymond's life will be held at the JAYCEE SHACK COMMUNITY CENTER, 2306 Jaycee Shack Road, Valdosta, GA, USA, July 12, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 07:30 PM. Please consider donations to any animal shelter in honor of Raymond's love for animals and his kind spirit.

Raymond John Vanek, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to serving others will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he made the world a better place through his presence and actions.
