RAYMOND L. (BUD) CARTER, 78, of Naylor died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 6, 1930 in Echols County to the late Lawton W. and Letha Hughes Carter and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Carter was a retired glass foreman with Valdosta Glass Company and American Glass Company and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Carter was a member of the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for many years.
Survivors include his wife of fifty five years, Voncile Allen Carter of Naylor, two daughters and a son in law, Debbie Carter Anderson of Savannah, Donna Carter Snellgrove and Terry Snellgrove of Lake Park, son and daughter in law, Raymond Allen Carter and Jennifer Carter of Naylor, five grandchildren, Seth Hodge, Tyler Snellgrove, Sayward Snellgrove, Austen Carter and Cameron Carter, great grandchild, Tayten Snellgrove, one sister, Veda Carter Chrisitian of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dwight Marshall, Elder Lynwood Davis and Elder Jim Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayfare Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
