Raymond Earl Dasher, 82, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Valdosta on October 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Molly Lee Copeland and Caulie William Dasher, Sr. A 1949 graduate of Valdosta High School, Raymond worked for Miller Hardware during high school and after graduation before serving in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. He was employed with REA Express Agency from 1952 – 1975. In 1952 he met the former Anne Stanford and they were married in 1955. Mr. Dasher established Dasher Service Company the same year and continued to oversee the business until his death. His family was his first and foremost priority. Dependable, honest and hardworking, the business of serving his customers was his life's passion. Raymond loved entertaining, fishing, traveling, and hosting numerous gatherings of family and friends.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Anne Stanford Dasher of Lake Park; daughter and son in law, Jan and Jim Hampton of Valdosta, son, Earl Dasher, son and daughter in law, Mike and Beth Dasher of Dasher; grandchildren, Missy Hampton Yenatsky and husband, Misha Yenatsky of Vidalia, Susan Hampton of Macon, McKenzie Dasher of Dasher; brothers, Glynn Dasher of Jacksonville, Florida, Lynnel Dasher of Valdosta; sister, Sara White of Valdosta, sister-in-law, Margie Dasher of Valdosta; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Freda Mae and George Schurr; brothers, C. W. Dasher, Jr., and Vernon Dasher; sister, Iva Nell Dasher; brother-in-law, David H. White, and sister-in-law Geraldine Tanna Dasher. The family is deeply grateful to his recent doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. John Klimko, Mr. Bryan Jarvis and Mr. G. R. Holton will officiate. Burial will follow at Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be made online at www.mclanecares.com.
