Raymond C. Bennett, 54 of Hahira, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at this residence after a lengthy illness. Born on August 11, 1951 in Naylor, he was the son of the late Henry Herschell Bennett and Lula Mildred Cone Lightsey Bennett Parr. He worked for Pete McCord on his farm and with his heating and air conditioning business. He was also employed with Jimmy’s Philips 66 in Hahira for several years. Raymond loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors are sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Henry Stain of Nashville, Sandra and Jackie McKenzie of Peachtree City, Gloria and Andres Feliepe of Hahira, Lizzie and Walter Barnard, Jr. of Lake Park; brothers, Carl E. Bennett of Valdosta, Samuel A. Parr, Jr. of Valdosta; nephew, Jessie Wayne Parr of Valdosta; close friend, Alan D. Conger of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pets, Benjie, Tiny and Spicy.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Ray City with Rev. Buck Solomon officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends at the family residence in Valdosta, 1503 Iola Drive on Wednesday and Thursday.
