Raymond Andrew Bell, 79, of Valdosta concluded his long journey and commitment to God, family and his country on Sunday, July 12, 2009. He was born in Colquitt County on September 6, 1929 to the late Charlie and Ethel Bell. Mr. Bell served 28 years in the United States Air Force. He came to Valdosta in July 1972 where he was a realtor and was active with the Boys' Club. Mr. Bell was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ. God blessed him with a life filled with faith, family and friends. He shared that love and enthusiasm with everyone that he touched. We will miss that immeasurable love, his stories, his smile and his strong, but gentle spirit.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Bell of Valdosta; his children and their spouses, Bobby and Kelly Short of Ft. Collins, CO, Linda and Lloyd Tiemann, of Bulverde, TX, Janice Verette of San Antonio, TX, Sheri and Scott Coats of Boerne, TX, Keith and Carol Bell of San Antonio, TX, Kevin and Suzanne Bell of Dayton, OH, Greg and Ferres Bell of McDonough; step-children and their spouses, Greg and Sandy McLeod, Debbie and Jimmy Murphy, Kip and Julie McLeod, all of Valdosta. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robbie Short, Lisa Gabriel, Heather (Brian) Wassner, Elizabeth Tiemann, Aaron Blankenship, Adam Blankenship, Toni Yanity, Ryan Bell, Jessica Bell, Kathryn Bell, Sarah Bell, Justin(Tracy)Bell, Jonathan Bell, Lindsay Bell, Scott Bell, Samuel Bell; step-grandchildren, Kristin McLeod, Derrick McLeod, Kohle McLeod, Greyson McLeod, Rett McLeod; great-grandchild, Brooklyn Wassner; sisters, Thelma Williams, Virginia(Don)Tucker, Lona(Charles)Dozier; brothers, Alvin Bell, Dolan(Lily)Bell, Charles Bell, Darrell Bell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Elizabeth Bell and his sister, Shirley Snow.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Central Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Brian Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery in Colquitt County.
