Randall “Gary” Spell, 73, of Naylor, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Gary was born on April 30, 1945 in Valdosta to the late Randall Webster and Evelyn Register Spell. Gary was a Ranger I for the Georgia Forestry. He was devoted to his wife of 53 years Karen Comings Spell. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a handyman of all trades. Gary loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his church Morningside Baptist Church. He cherished his children and grandchildren and he liked helping his neighbors. Gary enjoyed planting gardens and sharing the fruits of his labors with his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years Karen C. Spell of Naylor, his daughter Brenda Highsmith (Randy) of Naylor, two sons Randall (Randy) Gary Spell, Jr. (Dana) of Nashville, GA, and Jason J. Spell (Wendy) of Lake Park, eight grandchildren Katelyn Elder, Holden Highsmith, Karli Highsmith, Crystal Seeger, Ashli Dasher, Bethany Spell, Noah Spell, Isaac Spell, and five great grandchildren, one sister Sondra Carter.
A funeral service for Gary will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Morningside Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Morningside Baptist Church of Valdosta.
