RALPH L. BRANTLEY, USN (Ret.), 76, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born January 27, 1934, in Remerton, a son of the late Corley John and Sallie Jane Deloach Brantley. Ralph retired from the U.S. Navy in 1976 after 24 years of service. After returning to Valdosta, he owned and operated Brantley's Forklift Service and kept active in the veterans service organizations and veterans affairs. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Lynne Brantley of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Veronica L. and Gerhard K. Orlet of Augusta, and one son and daughter-in-law, Brian D. and Stella Y. Brantley of Dawsonville. Furthermore, Mr. Brantley has three grandchildren: Alex and Ashley Orlet, Cade Brantley, and anticipated the arrival of his fourth grandchild. Additional family include two sisters, Nita Mae Weeks of Valdosta, and Maxine and husband Ron Espick of Niles, MI, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, family and long-time friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Inez Lee, Melba Williams, Martha Ann Jones and Ava Nell Riggs, and three brothers, Milton, Leonard and Ronnie Brantley.
Graveside services for Mr. Brantley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
