Ralph Hamm, 86, of Dasher passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at his home.
He was born July 26, 1928 in Jacksonville, FL, son of the late J.M. and Ruth Edmondson Hamm. Mr. Hamm was a member and former Elder of Dasher Church of Christ. He loved Georgia Christian School, where he was a past Board Member. One of his proudest accomplishments was coaching the G.C.S. Boys Basketball team, "Dasher Ducks", to win their first State Championship in 1949, and as long as he was able, you could always count on seeing him at the G.C.S. basketball games. He retired as Shipping Clerk from Owens Illinois Bag Plant, and enjoyed collecting pigs and Avon bottles, and loved to camp and travel. He was rarely seen without his camera, and was a big contributor of photos and memorabilia to the Dasher Museum. Mr. Hamm was an avid Braves fan. The biggest thrill in his life was his grandchildren, and he enjoyed fixing their bikes in his "Bike Shop". A proud member of the Creek Indian Nation, he was a descendant of Chief William "Red Eagle" Weatherford. He and his wife delivered fruit baskets and candy to the elderly and shut-ins at Christmas for many years, until he was 80. Mr. Hamm was truly a jack of all trades, and was always there to help people.
