Rachel Black, 45, of Valdosta died on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born in Hahira on August 31, 1966 to the late William, Sr. and Veda Staten Dozier and has been a lifetime resident of this area. She was a homemaker and was of the Sabbath Day faith.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Black; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Gemma Black; daughter, Tiffany Black and a son, Riley Black all of Valdosta; sisters, Rita Diane Hutto of Albany, Georgia, and Jennifer Elaine Dozier of Florida; a sister-in-law, Judy Dozier of Morven; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dozier, Jr., and a nephew, Alan Dozier.
Services for Rachel Black will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Latham officiating. The burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
