Phyllis W. Drury, 68, of Valdosta, died on Monday, December 10, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Americus on July 31, 1944, she was the daughter of Margaret Clark and the late John Frank Whitaker. Mrs. Drury was a 1962 graduate of Elbert County High School and a graduate as a class of one of the Medical College of Georgia where she received a BS in Radiological Technology. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Social Sorority. Co-founder of Executive Travel, Mrs. Drury was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church since 1973 where she served on a number of church committees. She was also a member of the Junior Service League and former chair of the Arts and Crafts Fair. Mrs. Drury was a devoted wife of 44 years, a loving mother, and enjoyed spending special moments with her granddaughters.
Survivors are her husband, Dr. Don Drury of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter- in-law, Dow and Jennifer Drury of Bluffton, South Carolina, Clark Drury of Brunswick; five granddaughters, Gracyn Drury, Emma Drury, Kendall Drury, Maggie Drury, Reagan Drury; her mother, Margaret Clark Whitaker of Valdosta; sister and brother- in -law, Peggy and Mike Pollock of Elgin, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at eleven a.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Reverend Hale Bishop and Reverend James Rush will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral
