Phillip Lewis Lucas

Phillip Lewis Lucas, 77, of Valdosta and currently of the Presbyterian Home in Quitman for the past 1 ½ years passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville. He was born on August 20, 1933 in Mayport, Duval County, FL to the late Horace Kerr Lucas and Minnie Inez Lucas. Mr. Lucas was retired from the United States Air Force and was a retired clerk from the United States Post Office. He was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church of Valdosta.

Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife of 56 years and 8 months, Sara Young Lucas of Valdosta and currently Presbyterian Cottages in Quitman, four daughters and sons in law, Phyllis and Tom Livsey of Gainesville, FL, Pam and Mike Modlin of Valdosta, Connie and Joe Davis of Jennings, FL, Nancy and John Baisley of Flowery Branch, GA, eight grandchildren, Phillip O'Brien (Rebekah), Michelle Boutwell (Wade), Megan Bennefield (Brian), Aaron O'Brien (Joni), Clay Davis, Sara York (James), Johnny Baisley (Aundrea) and Matthew Baisley, seven great grandchildren, Andrew O'Brien, Autumn York, Shelby Boutwell, Connor O'Brien, Preston York, Rhys Bennefield and Wesley Boutwell, one sister, Amelia Whitsett of Orange Park, FL and one brother and sister in law, William Kenneth and Maralou Lucas of Danville, IL, special friends, Mike and Tracy Bledsoe of Hahira, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby Inez Dixon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Watson officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends froms six until eight p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
