Peter James Dandrea

Peter James Dandrea, 86, of Valdosta, GA., passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 29, 1934 in Grant Town, West Virginia. He is a graduate of Uniontown High School in Uniontown, PA. Pete joined the Air Force in 1952 and spent his career serving in Georgia, Italy, Canada, Massachusetts, Okinawa (Japan), and Nevada. He retired in 1972 and moved his family back to Valdosta. After retirement, Pete graduated from Valdosta Technical College with a degree in auto mechanics. He went on to work at Bayliner and Crackin’ Good Bakery. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Pete’s favorite hobby was woodworking to make toys for his grandchildren and gifts for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laverne (Speer) Dandrea; daughter and son-in-law Lee and Karen (Dandrea) Smith; grandchildren Jimmy and Kristen (Smith) Ross, Jared Smith, Colby and Hailee (Smith) Yates, and Bobby and Angela (Smith) Pittman; great grandchildren Emery Kayte and Gentry Ross, and Mackey and Macy Yates; three sisters Marie (Dandrea) DeCarlusi, Evelyn (Dandrea) Mozur, and Rita (Dandrea) Masi; two sister-in-laws Bonnie Dandrea and Angela (Berarducci) Dandrea; several special nieces and nephews; and his well loved furry partner, his yorkie Beau T.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva (Delighetti) Dandrea; two daughters Rhonda (Dandrea) Smith and Angela Maria Dandrea; two brothers James Robert Dandrea, Jr. and Donald (Duke) Dandrea; one sister Lois (Dandrea) Monahan.

Services for Peter James Dandrea will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 4pm in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Family will receive guests an hour prior to the service beginning at 3pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Halcyon Hospice.
