Pete Supp, 88, of Valdosta, died on Friday, April 20, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Born in Connecticut to the late John and Rose Supp, he had lived here for the past 28 years. Before moving to Valdosta, Mr. Supp had worked at SKF Industries Inc. in Philadelphia for 30 years as a draftsman and an engineer. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist church. He and his wife Ethel served for many years on the Evangelism Committee and won the Harry Denman Award in 1991 which is an award given by the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church to lay and clergy persons who have demonstrated the qualities of personal evangelism. Church records indicated that the Supps had visited over 1000 people and many people indicated that they joined Park Avenue UMC because of a visit from the Supps. He also served on the Administrative Board of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ethel Supp of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Norma Supp, of Warminster, PA, Peter L. and Sondra Supp of Valdosta, one daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Mike Marafino of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jack (Diane) Supp of Mechanicsville, MD, Jim (Sharon) Supp of Leesburg, PA, Jeff (Robin) Supp of Perkasie, PA, Jennifer (Geoff) Wood, Hatboro, PA, Sherry (Rev. Bill) Curington, of Rocky Face, GA, Cindy (Brett) Ganas, of Valdosta, Gina (Chris) Tindall, of McDonough, GA, and Angie Marafino, of Valdosta; and 18 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a Granddaughter, Stephanie Supp and a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Supp will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2006, at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund (100 E.
