Penelope Logan White, 75, of Valdosta died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Crestwood Nursing Home of Valdosta, GA. She was born on March 5, 1943 in Norfolk, VA to the late Walter Jefferson White and Winifred Emily Brooks White.
Professionally, from July 1998 until April 2009, Ms. White was Chapter Executive Director of the American Red Cross; Valdosta Chapter where she was responsible for management of programs and services for a four-county area. From September 1993 to July 1998, Ms. White was Disaster Coordinator and Branch Manager for Miami and the Keys Chapter. From August 1990 to August 1993, she was Director, Emergency Services for Northwest North Carolina Chapter, Winston-Salem, NC. From August 1984 to August 1990, Ms. White served as Executive Director Assistant of Planned Parenthood of the Triad, Inc. From September 1982 to March 1984, she served as Executive Director of North Florida Council of Camp Fire, Inc. Jacksonville, FL. From April 1970 until September 1982, Ms. White was Branch Director of the American Lung Association of FL, Inc. Jacksonville, FL. Academically Ms. White received a BA in Psychology from the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, FL and an AA in Business, Immaculata Junior College, Washington, D. C. She was a past member of Rotary International Club of Homestead, FL, South Dade Hurricane Task Force, Past Treasurer: AARP Valdosta Chapter 1129, President of Valdosta Emergency Food and Shelter Board, Secretary of Valdosta/Lowndes Azalea Festival and Valdosta Heritage Foundation.
She is survived by her son, Walter Rollenhagen of Valdosta, her sister and brother in law, Mary Ann (White) and Leon Morrisette, niece, Laura (Morrisette) and Bryan Andersen and family, nephew, Lee and Victoria Morrisette and family, niece, Ann (Morrisette) and Toby Donaldson and family, other family includes Pearson and Arlene White and family and Wilton and Ann White and family.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at two p. m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Deacon David Lasseter officiating. Entombment of urn will follow. Please express condolences online at www.mclanecares.com.
