Peggy W. Herring

Peggy W. Herring, 76, of Valdosta died on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. She was born on September 25, 1938 in Valdosta to the late Tally C. and Pearl Luke Wisenbaker and has been a lifelong resident of Valdosta. She graduated from Georgia Christian School and played on the basketball team where her talent and skills led her to score 42 points in one game alone. She loved to work outdoors and enjoyed the beauty and wonder of God's creation. Her whole life was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who taught her family about the Lord and, along with her husband, lived the example of Christian faith. She was a member of Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Arthur Herring of Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Art and Paula Herring of Valdosta, Rich and Suzanne Herring of Nashville, Tennessee, and Ken and Michelle Herring of Charlotte, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Grant Herring, Jesslyn Dazey and her husband Brice Dazey, Harrison Welch, Mary Elizabeth Welch, Levi Herring, Jackson Herring and Jenna Herring; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Betty Wisenbaker of Valdosta; a sister, Christie Tuggle of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother and sister-in-law, Luke and Margaret Wisenbaker and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Joyce and Bob Green all of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tally Mark Wisenbaker and two sisters, Elizabeth Hills and Claudia Dasher.

Services for Peggy W. Herring will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Bryan Jarvis and Mr. John Klimko officiating. The burial will follow in the Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
