Peggy Lee Turner, 90, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Langdale Place. Born on November 10, 1930, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Peggy was the daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Moore Horne. She grew up in Charlotte and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1953. On December 14, 1954, Peggy married James (Jim) Edmund Turner, Sr. and together they raised three boys, James, Mark and David. Peggy lived in Japan and France as a military spouse until Jim was assigned to Moody Air Force Base. Peggy and Jim always enjoyed traveling and were active in missionary work with First United Methodist Church. She was known for and will be lovingly remembered for her kind nature, sweet disposition and warm smile.
Peggy is survived by her sons, James E. Turner, Jr. and Kathy of Valdosta, Mark Turner and Debbie of Jefferson, David Turner and Tonya of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Laura Washnock and John of Valdosta, Jamie Gill and Brandon of Braselton, Lacey Ledford and Steven of Lakewood, Colorado; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Aidan and Jack Washnock, Turner Gill, Mary Alice and Annie Gill; nieces, Alma Troutman, Mary Ann Troutman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Troutman.
Private services will be held at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Anthony McPhail officiating.
