Pearl Black Walker

September 15, 1916 — January 8, 2011

Pearl Black Walker, 94, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Langadale Hospice House after a short illness. Born September 15, 1916 in Howell, a daughter of the late James Benjamin and Nell Dennis Black, she had lived most all of her life here in Valdosta. She was a homemaker and member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ.

She is survived by her four children, including three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Nell and John Newham, of Monroe, Murelene and Terry Jones, of Albany, Elizabeth and Sal Cadena, of Lawrenceville; a son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Pam Walker of Valdosta; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law, Graham and Alma Black of Morgantown, KY; sister, Doris Wilson of Lake Park, FL; sister-in-law, Virginia Walker of Valdosta, and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, a special friend- Marjorie Collier and other helpers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Murel Wiseman Walker; sisters, Virginia Nolan, Mary Angeline Black; and a brother Wilbur Black.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Mr. Michael Black officiating. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
