PAULINE JOINER, lovingly known by her family as “Mama” and “Granny”, 91, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Heritage House Nursing Home.
She was born June 20, 1917 in Mitchell County, a daughter of the late Jim and Leela Viola Shiver Hatcher. Mrs. Joiner had been employed as an LPN at Little Griffin Hospital and Pineview General Hospital, Valdosta. On July 24, 1930 she was married to Leo Joiner, and together they had five children. Mr. Joiner died September 1, 1980.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children, Wilma and husband Lewis Hart of Palatka, FL, Myrtice and husband Buddy Connell of Valdosta, and Jack and wife Nelda Joiner of Valdosta; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Gettys of Tampa, FL; one daughter-in-law, Pauline Spikes Joiner of Valdosta; one son-in-law, Bill Hall of Palatka, FL; many nieces, nephews and friends, including her close friends at Heritage House, Mrs. Doris Porter and Mrs. Elizabeth Rigdon. She was predeceased by her son, Leoris Joiner, daughter, Bernice Hall, one brother, two sisters, two half-sisters and three half-brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Hardee officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Quitman.
