Pauline Courson Phelps

Pauline Courson Phelps, 83, passed away at her residence in Valdosta on Friday, December 12, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 8, 1925 in Berrien County to the late Allen and Ressie Courson. Pauline was a devoted wife and mother and a devout Christian woman. Donald and Pauline have resided in Valdosta for more than 60 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Donald Phelps of 65 years; two daughters, Brenda Cannington (Edward) and Beverly Phelps; two sons, Ronald Phelps (Barbara) and Daniel Phelps (Joanna); 17 grandchildren, Paula Phelps Carlson (David), Traci Phelps Ryan (Frank), Melissa Phelps Lowe (Johnas), Shala Phelps Craven, Chadwick Pittman (Tina), Ronnie Cannington (Angela), Brian Pittman (Donna), Mitch Cannington (Lisa), Stacie Cannington Youngblood (Rusty), Kelley Phelps Parker (Travis), Matthew Barfield, Allen Phelps, Kasey Phelps, Hannah Phelps, Bray Phelps, Mel Galli and Miranda Trejo (Fernando); 22 great grandchildren, Kayla, Rachel, Rebecca, Karlee, Austin, Coleman, Kimberly, Katlin, Alyssa, Nicole, Emily, Jake, Dillon, Dalton, Miguel, Nina, Jay, Tyler, Slade, Dustin, Haylee, Dillon, and one great great grandchild, Tanner; four sisters, Letha Phelps, Marie Wells, Emily Courson and Doris Courson. Pauline was preceded in death by four sons, Melvin Phelps, Jimmy Phelps, Timothy Phelps and Michael Phelps; two brothers, Marvin and Calvin Courson; one sister, Vernell Dietrich.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Hardee officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
