Patricia Hornesby Bryant

Patricia Hornesby Bryant of North Charleston, SC, formerly of Valdosta, GA, passed away due to a recurrent illness on March 31, 2018 at her home at the Bridge of Charleston Assisted Living at the age of 80.

Mrs. Bryant is survived by her two children; Lisa B. McDowell (LTC, Ret. Rayford) of Columbia, SC, and CWO4 Ray F. Bryant (Camille) of Goose Creek, SC; five grandchildren, RJ, Meredith and Lauren McDowell and Matthew and Megan Bryant. She is also survived by her sister, Jewel Annis Van Mansfeld, of Tampa, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, C. Ray Bryant, Jr., her parents, Ernest F. Hornesby, LTC (Ret, US Army) and Jessie Hornesby, as well as her two sisters, Mary Carolyn Boyd and Jackie Chambers.

Born on September 10, 1937, in Fayetteville, NC, to Ernest and Jessie Hornsby, Patricia lived with her husband in Valdosta, GA, for 48 years where she was employed with C&S / Nations Bank. After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially their grandchildren. Patricia also spent many hours working in their yard. During her last two years, Patricia lived in North Charleston, SC, to allow her to be closer to her children as they cared for her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 10 am with a service beginning at 11 am in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America Coastal Carolina Council, 9297 Medical Plaza Drive, N. Charleston, SC 29406, Attn: Bryant Family.
