Patricia Ann Daughtry Braendel

Patricia Ann Daughtry Braendel (age 74), daughter of Vergil and Idell Daughtry of Adel died suddenly in her home in Fallbrook, California on February 28. She was preceded in death by her parents Idell and Vergil Daughtry Sr., brother Frank Daughtry of Atlanta, and an older brother, William Robert, who died in infancy.
Patricia was a graduate of the public schools of Adel and Cook County. Her early years were spent in Adel where she was a baptized member and attended worship in the Adel United Methodist Church.
On September 18, 1960, Patricia was married in the Adel United Methodist Church to Richard (Dick) Braendel, a member of the United State Air Force, stationed at Moody Air Force Base. In 1974 Dick and Patricia moved to Fallbrook, California where they have resided for the past 43 years.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dick Braendel, and two sons Bob Braendel of Fallbrook, California and Michael Braendel and wife Kristina of Houston, Texas. To mourn her death, she is also survived by an older brother Rev. V. L. Daughtery Jr., retired United Methodist Minister, wife Catherine of Valdosta, and sister-in-law Sylvia Daughtry of Atlanta.
Patricia was the retired president of a company in Fallbrook. Patricia founded and was president of Fallbrook Citizens Crime Prevention Committee, a 501 c organization. She organized a second organization, GANAS (Guide, Advise, Nurture, and Support). Ganas encourages children to make appropriate choices. Ganas has five sites for ages 9 – 13 and 13 -15 in Fallbrook.
In 2006 Patricia was selected as California Women of the year by Marie Shriver and her husband Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. A dinner was given in her honor in Sacramento, and her photograph and legacy were placed in a designated site with other yearly recipients of this award.
Patricia deeply loved God, her husband Dick, and her family. She loved visiting Alaska and had an unfulfilled dream of building a cabin there. She loved children, animals, and her flower garden. From her early influence of South Georgia, her favorite music was "Old Time Gospel Music". She had an endless well of unconditional love and compassion. She was constantly engaged in efforts to care for her family and possessed a fighting Irish attitude and spirit that could make possible what others saw as impossible.
A celebration of life and resurrection for Patricia was held on March 21, 2017 at the Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook. After school the children and youth with whom she had worked, came to pay their respects. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com
