Parrish Hester, 43 of Statenville, died on Saturday, March 22, 2013 unexpectedly at his residence. Born in Homerville on April 27, 1969 to the late Walter W. & Anita Gayle Hester, he had been a lifelong resident of Echols County. A 1987 graduate of Echols County High School, he went on to receive an associate's degree in Agricultural Engineering from ABAC and then his Electricians certification from Valdosta Technical College (now Wiregrass). Parrish worked for Crackin' Good Bakeries for 15 years as an electrician, and then for South Georgia Pecan as an electrician. He later worked as a forester for the Echols Unit of the Georgia Forestry Commission. Parrish was a part time bee keeper, and an avid outdoorsman, especially the excitement of hunting deer with dogs.
Survivors include his three daughters and a son in law, AnnElise & Tye Snellgrove, Alyssa Hester and Rachel Hester, all of Statenville; his brother and sister in law, Nat & Angie Hester of Douglasville; two grandchildren, Tayten & Mackenzie Snellgrove, both of Statenville. Also surviving are his two uncles, Kelly Raulerson, of Albany and Tom Raulerson, of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside funeral service will be held for Parrish at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Echols County. Rev. Wayne Boykin will officiate. The family will receive friends at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
