P. C. CARTER, 93, of Ray City died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Crestwood Nursing Home. He was born in Lowndes County on April 26, 1912 to the late Zeke and Belle Allen Carter and was a Baptist. Mr. Carter retired from Swift Packing Company in Moultrie where he lived from 1939-1980 before moving to Ray City. He enjoyed helping people and was named Berrien County Citizen of the Year in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Wanza Davis of Marietta and Selwin Carter of Perry, Fla., two daughters, D’Ree Simpson and Madge Croft both of Valdosta, grandchildren, Cheryl Hill, Lamanza Davis, Deanna Carnley, Andrea Bush, Amanda LeBlanc, Amber Poe, Andrew Carter, Ted Simpson, D’Ann Griner, D’Lee McCann, Natasha Carter, Brent Croft and Ashley Croft, 22-great grandchildren, 6-great great grandchildren, one sister, Essie Gay of Lake Park. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred West Carter and his second wife, Mamie Blanton Carter, one son, Guerry Davis and a granddaughter, Jan Edwards.
Memorial services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, June 8, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Knight officiating.
