Oweda Tyler Williams

Oweda Tyler Williams, 81, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 25, 2009 after a sudden illness. Born in Hahira to the late Joseph Riley Tyler and Jessie Wingate Tyler McCray Smith, she had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family, especially to her grandchildren and her brother; she was often the first one to respond whenever a grandchild cried out. She lived a life that represented what a wife, mother, sister and grandmother was supposed to be, and was greatly beloved by her family. Mrs. Williams also loved her pastors and ministered to them as she could.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Edward C. Williams, Sr. of Valdosta; two daughters and a son in law, Joanne & Bill Halter, and Violet Williams Emery, all of Valdosta; two sons and daughters in law, Jesse & Lyn Williams, Sr., of Hahira and Jeff & Deidra Frier of Valdosta; a brother, J.R. Tyler, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; and a sister in law, Rebecca Tyler, of Valdosta. Also surviving are grandchildren, Melissa (Chadd) Holley of Las Vegas, NV, Jay Green of Valdosta, Denise (Matt) Ledford of Cohutta, Kristen Weaver of Valdosta, Kimberly (Jonathan) Montgomery of Valdosta, Jesse (Joany) Williams, Jr. of Enigma, Eddie Halter, Stephanie Emery, Allen Frier, all of Valdosta, Cheryl (Chad) Conners of Hahira, Savanna Douglas of Crestview, FL, Dillon Williams of Hahira, Taylor Greene of Valdosta, Colt Holley of Las Vegas, NV, Billy Ledford of Cohutta, Riley Weaver, Asher Montgomery, both of Valdosta, Haylee Williams of Enigma, Graceanna Montgomery of Valdosta, Jesse James Ledford of Cohutta and Summer Conners of Hahira; and numerous special nieces and nephews and special sisters in law and brothers in law. Mrs. Williams is preceded in death by a son, Edward Christian Williams, Jr., her twin sister, Juanita Griffin, a sister Essie Mae Frier; and two brothers, William Russell Tyler, Sr. and Doyster Tyler, and her parents in law, Mr. & Mrs. F.B. Williams Sr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Faith Baptist Church. Pastor Gene Wisehart and Pastor Mickey Wisehart will officiate. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Hahira.
