O'Veda Cowart

O’Veda Harris Cowart, 92, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. She was born in Argyle, GA on September 10, 1929 to the late Ruben R. Harris and Viola Bennett Harris. Mrs. Cowart loved her family; she loved well and was well loved. Mrs. Cowart enjoyed singing, reading her bible, she wrote songs and poems. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Cowart collected sea shells, and flint rocks. She was known as “Granny Cowart” to many who loved her. She was married to her husband for 58 years before his passing. Her greatest passions were that all her family knew her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and being a voice for the unborn. She was the founder of 365 days 4 Life and was passionately Pro-Life.
Mrs. Cowart is survived by her children, Gloria (Doyle) Kelly, of Valdosta, Benny Cowart, of Pinetta, FL, and Brenda (Rusty) Wright, of Gainesville, GA; her grandchildren, Leslie (Kert) Scott, of Nashville, TN, Crystal Kelly, of State College, PA, Misty Kelly (Mike Linn) of Cape Coral, FL, Blake (Crystal) Cowart, of Dasher, Dillon (Kaylee) Cowart, of Dasher, Jason Loggins, of Valdosta, Lee Loggins, of Valdosta, Starr (Corey) Bruce, of Gainesville, GA, Dusty Quinn, of Calhoun, GA, Senica (Garrett) Bates, of Branford, FL, Corey (Becca) Wright, of Savannah, GA, Savanna (Austin) Chewing, of Lake Park, GA; 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Benjamin Cowart, a sister Ivis Robinson, brothers Elroy Harris, and Johnny Harris, and grandchildren April Kelly and Carrie Wright.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cowart will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2pm in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Sauls officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 pm.
