Mildred Oneeda Hobbs Carter, 84, of Lake Park, died on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Langdale Hospice House after a short illness. Born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on July 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Zion and Ada Anderson Hobbs. She was a homemaker and hairdresser at Elite Beauty Salon for many years. Mrs. Carter was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church.
Survivors are her two daughters, Pat Carter Pearson, Marlene Carter and Terry Bennett of Valdosta; grandchildren, Dawn M. and David Reenstra of Fayetteville, Wendy P. and Todd Woodruff , Jason T. Bennett, Eric A. and Karla Adams Bennett all of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Ella Paige and Olivia Ann Reenstra, Taylor Ann Bennett, Allie Victoria and Austin Grant Woodruff; sisters, Pauline Hobbs Hamblin of Belding, Michigan, Imogene Hobbs Henegar of Longwood, Florida. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Isaac Carter, a son, Jerry Thomas Carter , a sister, Kathryn Hobbs Tye, brothers, Preston Hobbs, William Zion Hobbs, Jr., and a sister in law, Reba Pearl Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at eleven a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Bill Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Langdale Hospice House.
