Oneda Edwards Drake

Oneda Edwards Drake, 87, formerly of Valdosta and residing in Ocala, Florida died on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Ocala Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born in Hahira on January 13, 1925 to the late H.B., Sr. and Louelle Hodges Edwards. She graduated from Valdosta High School and enrolled at the Women's College now Valdosta State University. She then transferred to the University of Miami where she received her B.S. Later she obtained her Masters Degree from Nova University. She retired from the Dade County School system as a teacher. She was a member of the D.A.R. and she was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George and Kathy Drake of Orlando, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard Lynn of Davie, Florida; a son, Hobart Drake of Ocala, Florida; 6 grandchildren, Philip Lynn, Paul Drake, Christine Lynn, Kenneth Drake, Hope Drake, Hobart Drake, Jr.; 2 great-grandsons, Riley Drake and Brayden Lynn; nephews, Kent Edwards, Williams Edwards, and H.B. Edwards III all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Timothy Drake.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
