Ollie Ann Croft, 83, of Valdosta, died at her home on July 3, 2024. Born on April 11, 1941, to the late Jerome & Sally Stokes in Byron, Ga, she grew up and graduated from high school there. Soon after high school, she married Bill Wood. The young couple went briefly to Chicago before returning to Georgia where she had two boys to start her family. They moved to Valdosta in the late 1960’s. Following a divorce in the late 1970’s, Ann started dating Roger Gordon “Jay Clark” Croft and they were married on August 7, 1981. She soon started work here as a bookkeeper in Mr. Brandon’s accounting firm. She learned many things about accounting and bookkeeping from Mr. Brandon during her time there. She went on to be a bookkeeper for Pineview Medical Center, now South Georgia Medical Center, and then later at the Valdosta Country Club. She worked at VCC for over 30 years before retiring in the mid 2000’s. Her favorite pastimes were growing flowers in her yard, caring for her pets, especially her cats and spending time with her grandchildren. She formerly attended Northside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Croft is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Jay Wood of Valdosta and Bryan & Robin Wood of St. Augustine, FL; two daughters and a son in law, Lisa & Keith Hodge and Jennifer Croft, all of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Emily Wood (& Mike) Thomas of Raleigh, NC, David (& Rachel) Enfinger of Valdosta, Danielle Greene of Adel, Tory Croft of Valdosta, Gabby Croft of Ft. Collins, CO, Mackenzi Croft and Morgan Croft, both of St. Mary’s. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Evan, Lacy & Luke Castor of Valdosta, and Brennan Gibbs & Amarie Greene of Adel, a niece Sheriel Greene Veader and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Gordon Croft, a son, Mark Croft and several brothers and sisters.
The funeral for Mrs. Croft will be held in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home at 11 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Rev. Bob Willis will officiate. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Berlin at 1 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 until 11 am.
